Norwegian fish farmers have a unique opportunity to receive financial support for renewable energy projects that aim to reduce emissions from feed barges. The application deadline is November 22, 2024.

This includes applications for funding to install Alotta Solar Hybrid, a floating solar power solution specifically designed for the aquaculture industry. Implementing Alotta's solutions could result in significant cost savings for fish farmers, with grant coverage of up to 50%. The application process is simple and straightforward, and Alotta provides support every step of the way.

Cost savings and financial support

As Norway aims to achieve an emission-free industry by 2050, the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy is vital. Enova, a Norwegian government enterprise focused on promoting eco-friendly energy practices, is offering financial grants to accelerate this shift in the aquaculture sector.

Switching to renewable energy sources, such as Alotta’s solar power solutions, can significantly lower operational costs for fish farmers. Enova's financial program, “Renewable Energy for Feed Barges,” supports projects both with and without battery packs installed. This means that feeding barges purely operated on diesel generators can include battery storage in the project and get financial support for the entire energy system. The program covers up to 50% of investment costs for renewable energy initiatives, helping to alleviate the cost of transitioning to sustainable practices. This allows fish farmers to adopt new technologies without sacrificing profitability.

The grant is part of a larger initiative to support the aquaculture industry, allowing businesses to adopt renewable technologies faster and at a larger scale. Fish farmers who take advantage of these grants can stay ahead in the market by implementing sustainable practices that reduce costs and increase energy resilience.

The next application deadline is November 22, 2024

This is the second application round of the year for this program. Eligible projects can get up to 50% of the investment costs covered, making this a substantial incentive for fish farmers to adopt renewable energy solutions.

Simple application process and support from Alotta

Applying for Enova’s grants is straightforward, and Alotta offers comprehensive support throughout the application process - from initial submission to the implementation of renewable energy solutions like Alotta Solar Hybrid. This partnership allows fish farmers to focus on their operations while navigating the grant process smoothly.

By investing in renewable energy now, fish farmers contribute to the industry’s goal of becoming emission-free by 2050. This not only aligns with regulatory requirements but strengthens the fish farmers' market position by showcasing a commitment to sustainability. In the long run, adopting renewable energy enhances energy resilience and can provide a competitive edge, making the business more attractive to environmentally conscious buyers and partners.
